WAVERLY — Sophomore Peyton Shaw and junior Michaela Lauper powered the offense, and freshman Brinn Cooney and sophomore Olivia Robinson combined on a five-hitter to lead Waverly to an 18-1 five-inning win over Odessa-Montour here Tuesday afternoon in IAC softball action.

The Lady Wolverines built a 5-0 lead after two innings, then blew the game wide open with 12 runs in the third inning.

Shaw stroked three singles, scored three runs, and had three RBI, and Lauper also singled three times, scored two runs, and drove in three runs to pace Waverly’s 15-hit attack, while senior Bella Romano doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and sophomore Lea VanAllen singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in three runs.

Senior Aubrey Ennis singled twice, scored three runs, and had one RBI in the win, while junior Alyvia Daddona singled twice, scored three runs, and knocked in one run, Cooney doubled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, sophomore Faith Blauvelt scored one run and knocked in one run, and senior Lourden Benjamin crossed the plate once.

Cooney earned the win with three shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Robinson finished off the game, allowing one run on two hits, while striking out four and walking none.

Waverly, now 7-7, returns to action Friday at Candor.
