DISTRICT 4 BASEBALL: SAYRE OPENS CLASS AA PLAYOFFS AT HOME FRIDAY; ATHENS ON ROAD IN CLASS 4A BRACKET SATURDAY (2022-05-18)

THE VALLEY — Sayre will open the District 4 baseball playoffs Friday at home, while Athens opens on the road Saturday.

CLASS AA
Top-seeded Sayre (18-2) will host eighth-seeded Montgomery (10-8) Friday at 4:30 p.m.. in the Class AA quarterfinals.

The winner will take on the winner of Saturday’s game between fifth-seeded Southern Columbia (11-8) and fourth-seeded Muncy (17-3) Wednesday in the semifinals.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Wyalusing (17-2) hosts seventh-seeded Line Mountain (11-9), and third-seeded South Williamsport (13-5) hosts sixth-seeded Canton (12-8). Both games are Saturday.

CLASS AAAA
Fifth-seeded Athens (12-8) will travel to fourth-seeded Lewisburg (10-8) for a Class 4A quarter-final match-up Saturday at 11 a.m. The winner will face top-seeded Montoursville (14-5) Wednesday at Central Columbia in the semifinals.

In the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Midd-West (14-5) squares off with third-seeded Danville (10-8) Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the semifinals at Central Columbia.
