IAC SOFTBALL: ENNIS WAVERLY'S LONE FIRST-TEAMER ON DIVISIONAL ALL-STAR TEAM; THREE EARN HONORABLE MENTION (2022-05-26)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Senior Aubrey Ennis was Waverly’s lone representative on the IAC South Large School Division first-team all-star team in recent voting by the division’s coaches.

Notre Dame’s Olivia Switzer was the divisional MVP.

A trio of Lady Wolverines — senior Bella Romano, junior Michaela Lauper, and sophomore Olivia Robinson — earned honorable mention recognition.

FIRST TEAM
Aubrey Ennis, senior, Waverly:
Ennis, who will play with JUCO powerhouse Corning Community College next year, hit .484 (30 hits in 62 ABs) with six doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored, and six stolen bases.

Ennis also walked seven times for an on-base percentage of .543. She also had a .677 slugging percentage for a 1.220 OPS.

Also named to the first team were Notre Dame’s Lawson Bigelow, Payton Miller, Ava Mustico, Izzy Griffin, and Shannon Maloney, Edison’s Gabby Milazzo, Kailey Ripley, Marianna Jones, Brianna Korsky, and Maliyah McIver, and Newark Valley’s Leah Whitaker

Honorable Mention
Bella Romano, senior, Waverly:
Romano, who will play at Nazareth College next year, hit .365 (23 hits in 63 ABs) with three doubles, three triples, four home runs, 24 RBI, 27 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

Romano had seven walks for a .437 on-base percentage. She also had a .698 slugging percentage and a 1.135 OPS.

Michaela Lauper, junior, Waverly: Lauper, who saw most of her action in the pitcher’s circle in the second half of the season, hit .468 (29 hits in 62 ABs( with one double, 13 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases. She had eight walks for a .535 on-base percentage, and ended the season with a 1.019 OPS.

In the circle, Lauper was 3-6 with a 5.70 ERA. She fanned 60 in 57 2/3 innings pitched.

Olivia Robinson, sophomore, Waverly: Robinson hit .327 (17 hits in 52 ABs) with three doubles, two triples, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored and eight stolen bases. She had 10 walks and a .438 on-base percentage.

In the pitcher’s circle, Robinson was 4-1 with a 5.14 ERA. She struck out 63 in 47 2/3 innings.

Also earning honorable mention recognition are Newark Valley’s Mackenzie Malone, Jocelyn Wright, and Hayley Beebe, and Notre Dame’s Paige Harvey.
