YOUTH SOFTBALL (18U): VALLEY STORMS WINS ANOTHER TOURNEY TITLE (2022-06-15)
Valley Sports ReportAnother tournament, another title for the Valley Storm 18U softball team over the weekend.
The
Valley Storm won the Tug of War Tournament title after going 4-0-1 over
the two days, winning the title game, 3-2, over the Lady Renegades 18U.
On the first day, they beat the Maryland Monarchs 18U, 7-2, the Sudden Impact 18U, 6-3, and then tied the Lady Renegades, 2-2.
On Sunday, they opened with an 8-2 win over the SW York Lady Outlaws 18U, before topping the Lady Renegades for the championship.
Against
the Monarchs, Brea Overpeck went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored, while Keri Wesneski was 2-for-3 and Addy
Repsher both went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Amber
James was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, Emma Repsher went 1-for-3 with
2-RBI, and a run scored, and Harley Sullivan and Aubrey Ennis both went
1-for-3 with a run scored.
Aramie Arroyo got the win in the circle, striking out seven with seven hits, one walk, and two earned runs.
In
the 6-3 win over the Sudden Impact, Madi Palmer went 2-for-2 with a
double, and an RBI, while Wesneski was 2-for-2 with three RBI, and a run
scored.
Overpeck
went 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Ennis was 1-for-2 with a run
scored, and an RBI. James, Sullivan, and Maddie Maynard all scored runs,
as Addy Repsher knocked one in.
Wesneski got the win in the circle, striking out seven with four hits, no walks, and three earned runs.
In
their tie with the Lady Renegades, the Valley Storm jumped out to a 2-0
lead in the first, but the Renegades tied with it with two runs in the
fourth.
Emma Repsher was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Wesneski went 1-for-2. James and Overpeck scored the runs.
Arroyo was in the circle, striking out four with three hits, three walks, and two unearned runs.
In
the first Sunday game against the SW York Lady Outlaws, Emma Repsher
went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored, while Palmer
went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and a run scored.
Overpeck (1-for-3), Ennis (1-for-2), Maynard (1-for-2), and Wesneski (1-for-3) all scored a run, and knocked one in.
Wesneski
started, and went 2 2/3-innings with a strikeout, six hits, two walks,
and two earned runs. Arroyo went the final 2 1/3-innings, striking out
three with no hits, and one walk.
In
the title game, Valley Storm went up 1-0 in the first, but the Lady
Renegades took a 2-1 lead in the second. The Valley Storm tied it up in
the third, then won it in the top of the fifth.
James
led off with a double, then scored on a two-out Emma Repsher hit. In the
bottom half of the inning, the Lady Renegades would get a runner on with
one out, but back-to-back pop outs secured the championship.
James (2-for-2) had a double and scored three times, while Maynard (1-for-2) also had a double.
Emma Repsher (2-for-2) knocked in two runs, as Addy Repsher (1-for-2) also had a hit.
Arroyo got the win in the circle, striking out one with four hits, four walks, and two unearned runs.
