SCHOLASTIC WRESTLING: TIOGA'S SINDONI ADVANCES TO FINALS AT FARGO JUNIOR FREESTYLE NATIONALS (2022-07-20)

Valley Sports Report
FARGO, N.D. — Senior Emily Sindoni is poised to become Tioga’s first-ever Fargo National Champion this afternoon after winning her 122-pound semi-final match Wednesday morning at the 2022 U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Junior Freestyle Nationals.

She became Tioga’s second Fargo All-American Tuesday, joining junior Caden Bellis, who placed eighth in the 16U Freestyle earlier this week, after winning five straight matches to reach the semifinals.

Wednesday morning, Sindoni, ranked eighth in the Nation, squared off with Pennsylvanian Haylie Jaffe, who is ranked ninth in the nation, in the semifinals.

Sindoni scored the first takedown just 15 seconds into the match, but Jaffe countered 24 seconds later, and the duo ended the first three minutes tied at 2-2.

Sindoni scored a pair of four-point exposures, sandwiched around a takedown, in the second period, and closed out the 12-2 technical fall in 5:01.

Sindoni is 6-0 with three falls, and three technical falls in her run to the finals. She has beaten three wrestlers ranked in the top 11 in the Nation.

She will face Cadence Diduch of Illinois in the finals. She beat Alejandra Valdiviezo of California, via fall at the first-period buzzer, trailing 6-4 at the point.

The finals are slated to begin at 3 p.m.
