YOUTH SOFTBALL (14U): LABY REBELS FINISH SECOND AT 'WAR AT THE SHORE' (2022-07-30)

The New York Lady Rebels 14U travel softball team went to New Jersey for the War at the Shore Tournament and battled the heat and 18 teams to finish in second place.

The team went 2-0 on Friday and Saturday and won the first two games Sunday, before falling 5-2 to the West Jersey Witches in the final.

The team is made up of Kenna Thomas (Tioga, Pa.), Emelia Clark (Horseheads), Bella Moffe (Elmira Heights), Lillly Newell (Addison), Maddie Payne (Corning), Kailey McCormick (Horseheads), Matti Johnston (Horseheads), RaeAnne Feeko (Tioga, N.Y. ) and Zeraya Wilson (Knoxville, Pa.).

The team finished the year with two tournament wins and a second-place finish and they were 25-4 on the season. They never lost a game on a. Friday or Saturday and were the top seed after pool play in every tournament they played in.

Horseheads’ Johnston opened the tournament with a no-hitter against the Niners, striking out 10 in the four-inning win.

On Friday, Thomas had a two-hit game in the opener against the Niners and Wilson had a double.

In the game Friday against the Empire Black, the Rebels got doubles from Feeko and Thomas.

Thomas threw a two-hitter, striking out six.

On Saturday against the Witches, the Rebels got a one-hitter from Johnston, with five strikeouts, and McCormick had two hits, with a double and Feeko hit a two-run home run.

Against the New Jersey Pride, Johnston was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Feeko was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.

Thomas threw a two-hitter, striking out six.

Johnston threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts against the Stealth Red on Sunday,  and Clark had two doubles in the game, while Thomas had two hits, including a double.

In the semifinals against the Roxbury Rebels, Feeko was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, and Johnston had two hits, with a double.

Thomas struck out two in the game.

Against the Niners, the team also had hits from Johnston, Newell, Moffe and Payne. Against the Empire Black, the team also got hits from Johnston, Newell and Clark.

Against the Witches on Saturday the team also got hits from Wilson, Thomas and Moffe.

Against the Pride the team also got hits from Newell and Payne.

Against the Stealth Red, the team also got hits from Wilson, Johnston, Feeko, Newell and Moffe.

On Sunday against the Roxbury Rebels, the team also got hits from Wilson, Newell, Clark and Moffe.
