YOUTH BASEBALL (16U): RIVER RATS POST 0-1-2 MARK AT 'HAPPY VALLEY SHOWCASE' (2022-08-07)

STATE COLLEGE — The Susquehanna Rats 16U travel baseball team went 0-1-2 here Friday and Saturday at Penn State’s Medlar Field in the “Happy Valley Showcase."

The River Rats tied Baseball CPA, 0-0, and the Chicago Colts, 5-5, sandwiched around a 9-1 loss to the US Elite American.

In the first game, Athens’ Lucas Kraft (1-for-1) had the lone hit, and struck out seven from the mound.

In the loss, Wyalusing’s Kenny Mapes went 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Wyalusing’s Isaac Shaffer was 1-for-1 with a double. Kraft was 1-for-2 with a double, while Wyalusing’s Nick Vanderpool Jr. and Troy’s Camryn Harwick both went 1-for-2. Troy’s Camden Allen also had an RBI.

Kraft started, and went four innings with three strikeouts, while Athens’ Cameron Sullivan came in and pitched the final inning.

In the River Rats’ final game, Harwick went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Sullivan was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Wyalusing’s Hunter House was 1-for-2 and Allen, Troy’s Kory Schucker, Mapes, and Wyalusing’s Kevin VanDeMark each scored runs.

House went the distance, striking out two.
