THE WEEK AHEAD: ANOTHER BUSY WEEK, CHOCK FULL OF SOCCER AND VOLLEYBALL (2022-09-18)

THE VALLEY — It’s another very busy week that’s chock full of boys and girls soccer and volleyball action (Athens has four matches, and Athens, Sayre, and Waverly each have three.)

There are 37 varsity events on the docket this week, including eight on Thursday, and seven each on Monday and Tuesday.

The following are some, not all, of this week’s events:

MONDAY (7)
•  Tioga volleyball hosts IAC rival Waverly.

•  The Athens boys hosts non-league foe Horseheads on the pitch at Alumni Stadium.

•  Athens and Sayre golfers are in action at the Towanda Country Club in the sixth NTL match of the season.

•  Tioga field hockey hosts Maine-Endwell.

•  The Tioga girls host Watkins Glen on the soccer pitch.

•  JV Football: Sayre hosts Tioga, while Athens hosts Wellsboro, and Waverly is at Newark Valley.

TUESDAY (7)
•  The Athens girls host Wyalusing on the pitch at Alumni Stadium.

•  Tioga hosts several IAC cross country rivals, including Waverly.

•  The Tioga boys host Notre Dame on the soccer pitch.

•  Athens hosts NTL cross country rivals Troy and Sayre.

•  Athens volleyball hosts Williamson.

•  Sayre volleyball hosts Wyalusing.

WEDNESDAY (3)
•  Waverly hosts IAC Large School volleyball rival Edison.

• Tioga volleyball is on the road at S-VE.

THURSDAY (8)
•  Waverly hosts IAC Large School girls soccer rival Newark Valley under the lights at Memorial Stadium.

•  The Waverly girls hosts IAC swimming rival Dryden.

FRIDAY (6)
•  Unbeaten Waverly football hosts NTL Small School Cowanesque Valley.

•  Athens takes on NTL Large School football co-leader Troy at Alparon Park.

•  Unbeaten Tioga fotball travels to face divisional rival Bainbridge-Guilford.

•  Waverly volleyball hosts Candor.

•  The Tioga girls host Newfield on the soccer pitch.

•  Tioga volleyball hosts Newfield.

SATURDAY (6)
•  The Waverly boys host Whitney Point on the pitch at Memorial Stadium.

Waverly and Athens are in action at the Owego Cross Country Invite.

The Tioga boys host Watkins Glen on the soccer pitch.
