THE VALLEY — A battle of state-ranked girls soccer teams highlights a busy Thursday slate of action as Waverly, ranked 16th in Class C, hosts Newark Valley, ranked 25th in Class C, under the lights at Memorial Stadium.

The only other home action in the Valley has the Waverly girls swim team hosting Dryden.

GIRLS SOCCER
Newark Valley (6-0-1) at Waverly (6-0), 7 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 5-0 win at Candor Tuesday, while the Lady Cardinals played to a 0-0 draw with Notre Dame in a game that was stopped early in the second half due to lightning.

Athens (3-5, 3-2 NTL) at Towanda (1-5-1, 1-4-1), 6 p.m.: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 2-1 win over Wyalusing, while the Lady Black Knights were thumped, 11-0, at Troy.

BOYS SOCCER
Waverly (4-3) at O-M (0-5-1), 7 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 4-2 win at Newfield Tuesday, while the Grizzlies dropped a 8-1 decision SVEC.

Tioga (2-5) at SVEC (6-1), 5 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 7-1 loss to Notre Dame, while the Eagles rolled to a 7-0 win over Waverly.

VOLLEYBALL
Sayre (0-6) at North Penn-Liberty (6-1), 6 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Rams were swept by Wyalusing Tuesday, while the Lady Mounties topped Small School-leading Canton, 3-1.

Athens (3-2) at Wyalusing (6-3), 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a five-set loss to Williamson, while the Lady Rams swept Sayre.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Dryden (2-1) at Waverly (2-0), 5 p.m.:
  The Lady Wolverines look to improve to 3-0, but face their toughest opponent of the season to date.

FIELD HOCKEY
Tioga (0-7) at Moravia, 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 6-0 loss to Maine-Endwell Monday. Moravia won at Tioga earlier this season, 5-1.

JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL

Sayre at Wyalusing, 5 p.m.
Canton at Athens, 5 p.m.
