IAC BOYS SOCCER: TIOGA FALLS TO STATE-RANKED SVEC (13 PHOTOS) (2022-09-22)

CANDOR — The rebuilding Tioga boys soccer program battled the rain and state-ranked SVEC here Thursday, falling to the high-flying Eagles, 12-1, in IAC action.

SVEC, which debuted this week in the state Class C rankings at No. 17, built an 8-0 cushion at the half.

The Eagles took 27 shots and had six corner kicks to one of each for the Tigers.

Addison Young and Jacob Banks pumped out three goals and one assist each for SVEC (8-1), which registered its seventh consecutive victory.

Freddy Schmidt recorded two goals while Zeb Soper and Tyler Greeno contributed one goal and one assist apiece.

Jason Jantz scored once, as did Darren Starkweather. Noah Banks dished out three assists and Taylor Brock added two more.

Tioga avoided a  shutout as Tyler Roe put one in the back of the net with James Miller assisting.

Tiger goalkeepers Jake Browne and Ethan Landmesser made eight and three saves, respectively.

Tioga, now 2-6, hosts Watkins Glen Saturday at 11 a.m.
