NEWARK VALLEY — Tioga got off to a fast start, and cruised to a sweep of Newark Valley here Monday evening in IAC South volleyball action.

The Lady Tigers, who are 6-1 and back in first place by virtue of S-VE’s five-set loss to Candor, won by scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-15.

Senior Reese Howey led Tioga with 14 points, six kills, two block, six digs, and three setter assists, while senior Kyra Bailey had 12 points, three digs, and two blocks, and senior Hailey Browne had seven points (two aces), five kills, and five digs.

Junior Megan Shumway had seven points (three aces) in the win, while junior Megan Vance added three points, six kills, and two digs, and Lily Mesler chipped in with two points, two assists, and five digs.

Tioga hosts Thomas A. Edison Wednesday.

JV: Tioga swept the junior varsity match by scores of 25-19 and 25-10 to remain unbeaten (7-0) this season.

RaeAnne Feeko led Tioga with nine service points, including five aces, seven assists, three kills, and three digs, while Mary Divers had nine points (two aces), four assists, and three digs, Lily Mezzatesta had seven points (two aces) and Sophia Haney had six points (three aces), four kills, and three digs.

Lydia Decker had five points and two kills in the win, while Kali Bailey added four points (two aces), four kills, and one block, and Alyson Chamberlain chipped in with two points and three assists.
