COLLEGE WRESTLING: ATHENS GRAD BRADLEY FINISHES FOURTH IN COLLEGIATE DEBUT (2022-07-11)

ITHACA — Athens grad Gavin Bradley, a freshman on the Castleton University wrestling team, won five straight matches in wrestlebacks to finish fourth in his first collegiate action at the Ithaca Invitational over the weekend.

In his opening match, Bradley, the fifth seed, dropped a 6-1 decision to Harrison Gordon of Johnson & Wales.

Bradley bounced back with a pin of Springfield College’s Carlos Arango in 91 seconds, then forged an 11-1 major decision over Carver Moyer of Norwich University in the first consolation round-of-eight.

In the second consolation round-of-eight, Bradley decked John Vicario of Oswego State in 78 seconds, then followed it up with a pin of Delaware Valley’s Sean O’Toole in 2:38 in the consolation round-of-4.

In the consolation semifinals, Bradley forged a 9-3 decision over sixth-seeded Michael Santore of Oswego State.

In the third-place match, Bradley dropped a 4-1 decision to top-seeded Chris DeRosa of New England College. DeRosa is ranked 14th in the nation at 125 pounds.

Castleton returns to action Saturday at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, R.I.
