ON TAP TODAY: WAVERLY KICKS OFF STATE PLAYOFFS (MAYBE), AND KITTLE WRAPS UP AT STATE SWIM MEET (2022-11-19)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY - Waverly will play in its first state playoff game since 2015 tonight (maybe), while Waverly freshman Mira Kittle will swim in the "C" finals of the 50-yard freestyle at the New York State Swimming & Diving championships this morning.

Waverly (10-1) vs. General Brown (9-1), 6 p.m. @ Cicero-North Syracuse H.S.: The Wolverines are coming off a convincing 28-14 win over two-time defending state champion Chenango Forks in the Section IV championship game, while the Lions rolled to a 41-0 win over Holland Patent in the Section III title tilt.
Waverly enters the game outscoring its opponents 36.9 to 13.8 points per game this season, while General Brown has outscored its foes by an average of 46.5 to 10.6.
While Waverly has been away from the state playoffs for seven years, General Brown is making its first appearance since 2013.
Waverly reached the state semifinals in 2011, while General Brown reached the state finals in 2010. Neither program has won a state championship.
There’s also a chance the game could still be moved to Monday at 5 p.m..
General Brown High School is located in Dexter, which is near Watertown. The overcast forecast is calling for up to four feet by morning. If they are unable to dig out, and reach Syracuse for the game, it will be played Monday at Cortland High School.

GIRLS SWIMMING
New York State Swimming & Diving Championships, 10 a.m. @ Webster Aquatic Center, Webster. N.Y.: Waverly freshman Mira Kittle finished 31st in the 100-yard backstroke Friday, and posted the 20th-fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle.
Thanks to a newly-minted consolation "C" final, Kittle will get a chance to swim the 50 free again today, with a 17th-place finish the best she can hope for.
