Valley Sports Report
CASTLETON Vt. — Athens grad Gavin Bradley, a freshman on the nationally-ranked Castleton University wrestling team was 2-0 as the Spartans went 2-1 in a four-day stretch last week.

On Wednesday, Castleton, ranked 22nd in the nation in Division III, blanked Norwich University, 49-0 — its fourth straight win over its arch-rival in the “Green Mountain Championship.”  Bradley, at 125 pounds, forged a 17-2 technical fall win over Jabari Pinkney in seven minutes after collecting the riding-time point.

Castleton dropped a 16-15 decision to The College of New Jersey, ranked ninth in the nation, Friday at the Journeyman Wrestling Armbar at the Armory in Albany.

Bradley returned to the line-up Saturday to help Castleton to a 34-19 win over Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Bradley’s 5-2 decision over Tanner Thatcher gave Castleton an early lead it would not relinquish.

Bradley is second on the team with 11 wins, and is 11-4 on the season.

Castleton returns to action Dec. 3 at the Ted Reese Invitational in Gorham, Maine.
