NEWARK VALLEY — Senior Shantilly Decker rolled a 600 series to lead unbeaten Waverly to a sweep of Newark Valley, while the Cardinal boys pulled out a tightly-contested 3-1 victory here Thursday afternoon in IAC bowling action.

GIRLS
Waverly 4, Newark Valley 0

Decker rolled a 600 on games of 212, 190, and 198 to pace the Lady Wolverines, who improve to an IAC South Large School-leading 12-0 record.

Waverly won the first game 755-551, then reeled off wins of 753-501, and 770-681 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,278 to 1,733.

Senior Victoria Houseknecht shot a 504 in the sweep, while junior Rachel Houseknecht shot a 497, 8th-grader Emily Houseknecht added a 356, and 7th-grader Karis Hayes tacked on a 321.

Rachel Hartman led Newark Valley with a 363.

BOYS
Newark Valley 3, Waverly 1

Newark Valley won a pair of close games to pull out a 2,744 to 2,725 total-pinfall victory.

NV won the first two games by scores of 875-857 and 1,013-979, while Waverly won the finale 889-856.

Senior Zach Vanderpool led Waverly with a 589 series, including games of 212 and 224, while freshman Tristan Campbell shot a 557, and junior Carter Hayes had a 519.

Senior Michael Cole had a 507 for the Wolverines, while freshman Derek Johnson and senior Ashton Pritchard  each added series of 491.

John Mincher led NV with a 594 series, including a 247.

Waverly falls 9-3 on the season.

The Wolverines return to action Tuesday against Notre Dame at Dixie Lanes.
