IAC GIRLS BOWLING: WAVERLY MOVES INTO FIRST PLACE WITH SWEEP OF US / PB (2023-01-12)

WAVERLY — Back at full strength, Waverly avenged a 4-0 loss at Union Springs / Port Byron with a tightly-contested sweep of its own here Thursday in IAC Large School girls bowling action.

The Lady Wolverines won the first two games by scores of 860-825, and 899-860, then pulled out an 871-864 decision in the third game for a total-pinfall victory of 2,630 to 2,549.

Waverly improves to 32-8 (.800), and into first place, percentage points ahead of US / PB 34-10 (.773).

Shantilly Decker banged out a 641 series on games of 218, 213, 210 to lead the Lady Wolverines, and junior Rachel Houseknecht rolled a 585, including games of 215 and 235.

Senior Victoria Houseknecht shot a 487 in the win, while sophomore Serenity Conklin had a 474, 7th-grader Karis Hayes added a 430, and 8th-grader Emily Houseknecht tacked on a 411.

Colleen Jump led US / PB with a 641 series and Bethany Jump added a 550.

Waverly returns to action Friday at Lansing.
