IAC GIRLS BOWLING: HOUSEKNECHT LEADS WAVERLY IN SWEEP OF NEWARK VALLEY (2023-01-19)

NEWARK VALLEY — Junior Rachel Houseknecht banged out a 600 series to lead Waverly to a sweep of Newark Valley here Thursday afternoon in IAC Large School girls bowling action at Cardinal Lanes.

The Lady Wolverines opened the day with a 913-674 win in the first game, then topped the Lady Cardinals 745-655 in the second, before closing out the match with an 879-642 win in the third game. They won the total-pineal count 2,537 to 1,971.

Rachel Houseknecht shot a 644 series on games of 221, 191, and 232, while senior Shantilly Decker rolled a 515, sophomore Serenity Conklin had a 504.

Senior Victoria Houseknecht shot a 450, while 7th-grader Karis Hayes added a 410, and 8th-grader Emily Houseknecht tacked on a 354.

Rachel Hartman led NV with a 450 series.

The Lady Wolverines improve to 43-9 on the season.

Waverly returns to action Jan. 27 at Watkins Glen.
