IAC WRESTLING: TIOGA RACKS UP FORFEIT-FILLED WINS OVER SVEC, LANSING (12 PHOTOS) (2023-01-20)

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga didn’t need to do much wrestling Thursday or Friday to run its record to 9-0 with wins over short-handed Lansing and SVEC.

TIOGA 60, SVEC 6
On Friday, Tioga won five of the six contested weight classes, and picked up six forfeits in a 60-6 win over SVEC.

Junior Levi Bellis opened the action at 126 pounds with a pin of Kamren Westbrook in 2:46, and junior Tyler Roe pinned SVEC’s Shane Neal in 73 seconds at 138 pounds.

John Johnston III registered SEVC’s only points of the match with a 51-second fall in the 172-pound bout.

Freshman Logan Bellis logged Tioga’s last fall of the match t 102 pounds, pinning Brennan Zimmer in 1:20.

At 110 pounds, freshman Brayden MacWhinnie turned a switch-reversal into a cradle and a five-point move for a 5-2 lead over Rodney Vaow. MacWhinnie held of for a 6-4 win.

At 118 pounds, freshman Jayden Duncanson gave up an early takedown, but rallied to top Kaleb Soto, 6-2.

Tioga received forfeits at 132, 145, 152, 160, 215, and 285.

Tioga 66, Lansing 12
On Thursday, the Tigers received nine forfeits, and split the only two weight classes to reach the mat in a 66-12 win over Lansing.

Freshman Kadin Cole earned Tioga’s only win of the night on the mats at 102 pounds, with a pin of Aaden McMillen in 2:32.

The Tigers received forfeits at 110, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 172, 189, 215, and 285, and issued a forfeit at 160 pounds.

Tioga returns to action Saturday at the IAC Championships.
