LEIGHTON, Pa. — Senior Jake Courtney and junior Josh Nittinger each went 3-0 Friday to reach the quarterfinals of the rugged Coal Cracker Tournament, but their days came to a quick end Saturday with losses in their first two matches.

Freshman Cooper Robinson, who received a forfeit in his first bout, and sophomore Caleb Nason also both loss their only match of the day.

At 141 pounds,
Courtney, who went 3-0 on Friday, lost vial fall in 4:00 to unbeaten and top-seeded Conner Heckman of Midd-West.

In his first wrestleback match, Courtney dropped a 7-2 decision of Hatboro-Horsham’s Chris Staub.

At 287 pounds, Nittinger, who was 3-0 Friday, lost to third-seeded Michael Gavrilesku of Parkland via fall in 43 seconds.

In his first wrestleback match, Nittinger dropped a 4-1 decision to top-seeded Bailey Shindle of Kennett.

At 129 pounds, Robinson received a forfeit from Souderton’s A.J. Stayton in the fourth round of wrestlebacks.

Robinson’s tournament came to an end with a loss via fall in 3:35 to fourth-seeded Jaden Colwell of Wallenpaupack.

At 217 pounds, Nason’s tournament came to an end in his first match of day as he lost by fall to Souderton’s Michael McCormick in 2:28.
