THE VALLEY - A light week of action starts with the renewal of the Athens-Sayre girls hoop rivalry, and ends with the New York State girls wrestling championships, and the New York State Duals.

With Waverly and Tioga in the midst of Regent’s Week, there are only 26 events on the docket this week, including eight on Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (2)
• The Athens girls host crosstown rival Sayre on the hardwoods.

TUESDAY (5)
• The Athens boys host NTL rival Canton on the hardwoods.

• The Athens wrestlers hit the road to take on Towanda.

• Tioga hosts Union-Endicott in non-league boys basketball match-up.

WEDNESDAY (2)
• The Sayre girls host NTL rival Wyalusing on the hardwoods.

THURSDAY (4)
• The Sayre wrestlers host crosstown rival Athens.

• The Tioga girls host Marathon in an IAC Small School crossover game.

FRIDAY (8)
• Wrestlers from Waverly and Tioga are in action at the New York State Girls Invitational at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

• The Athens girls host NTL Large School rival Wellsboro on the hardwoods.

• The Sayre girls host North Penn-Mansfield on the hardwoods.

• Waverly hosts Lansing in an IAC boys swim meet.

SATURDAY (5)
• Tioga is in action at the New York State, Division 2 Wrestling State Duals at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

• The Waverly boys host Section III Cazenovia in a non-league basketball game.

• The Waverly indoor track & field team is in action at the Section IV Classic at Ithaca College.
