IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: GROTON RALLIES TO TOP TIOGA, 52-34 (2023-01-23)
Valley Sports ReportGROTON — Groton’s come-from-behind, 52-34, win over Tioga in IAC jSmall School junior varsity boys basketball action Friday was a tale of two halves.
Jackson Bombard knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and pumped in 10 points in the first quarter to help Tioga to a 12-5 lead after the first eight minutes.
Brady Landmesser scored four points, and Bombard added another 3-pointer in the second quarter, and Tioga stretched its lead to 23-12 at the half.
The second half was all Groton.
The Indians blitzed Tioga with a 25-4 run in the third quarter to take a 37-25 lead into the final stanza.
Groton added to its lead with a 15-7 run in the fourth quarter.
Bombard led Tioga with 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Landmesser scored 11 points, and Derek Mills chipped in with four points.
Tioga returns to action Friday when it travels to Marathon.
