COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD LAMB ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS AT D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS (9 PHOTOS) (2023-03-10)

Austin Lamb, a senior on the RIT wrestling team, won his first match here Friday to advance to quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.
Lamb, the sixth seed at 165 pounds, forged a 6-3 decision over Washington & Lee junior Harrison Kelly Friday morning.
Lamb scored a takedown midway through the first period, but Kelly escaped 36 seconds later, and the two grapplers spent the final 67 seconds of the opening stanza on their feet.
Lamb scored a quick escape off the second-period whistle and led 3-1, before registering another takedown to extend his lead to 5-1. He rode top for 30 seconds before Kelly escaped to close the gap to 5-2.
Lamb started on top in the third period, and rode Kelly for 32 seconds, before Kelly scored his third escape to trim the deficit to 5-3.
After spending the final 88 seconds on his feet, Lamb was awarded a riding-time point to the 6-3 win.
Lamb, now 18-2, will square off third-seeded Noah Noah Leisgang of Wisconsin-Lacrosse tonight in the semifinals.
