ON TAP TODAY: GIRLS WRESTLING, BOYS BOWLING TAKES POSTSEASON CENTER STAGE (2023-03-12)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The wrestling and bowling seasons come to an end today with the Pa. Girls Wrestling Championships, and the New York State Boys Bowling Team Championships on the slate.

GIRLS WRESTLING
MyHouse Pa. State Championships, 9 a.m. @ Central Dauphin H.S.:
After the NTL boys came up empty this year in the chase for state hardware for the first time since 1990, a trio of Athens girls will vie for Pa. gold.

Freshmen Anaiah Kolesar, an NEB student, Leah Nason, and Hanna Rathbun will be in action for the Lady Wildcats.

BOYS BOWLING
New York State Division 2 Team Championships, 9 a.m. @ Strike N’ Spare Lanes, Syracuse:
Senior Zach Vanderpool returns to States, this time with his Wolverines teammates in tow.

Waverly rallied in ninth game of the State Qualifier, then had two bowlers strike out in the 10th grade to pull the title away from Johnson City.

This is Waverly’s first trip to the state championships since 2017 when it finished seventh in the one-division format. This year, Waverly will compete against other Division 2 teams.
