GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY'S WESTBROOK NAMED FIRST-TEAM SECTION IV ALL-STAR (2023-03-21)

Waverly senior Kennedy Westbrook was recently named a Section IV first-team all-star in recent voting by the Section IV chapter of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.

Westbrook averaged 19.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4 assists per game, 5 steals, and 3.4 deflections per game. She also knocked down 42 3-pointers.

Newark Valley’s Cha Gardner was named the Class B “Player of the Year,” and Newark Valley’s Greg Schweiger was named the Class B “Coach of the Year.”

Also named to the first team were: Elmira’s Jalea Abrams, Corning’s Jenna DiNardo and Alyssa Dobson, M-E’s Kaety L’Amoreaux, Horseheads’ Sophia Bonnell, U-E’s Adrianna Fontana, Johnson City’s Marisa Smith and Precious Gabriel, Newark Valley’s Haley Beebe, Chenango Forks’ Maggie warpus, Union Springs’ Kailey Kalet and Payton Gilbert, Edison’s Payton LIttlefield, and Oxford’s Madelyn Barrows.

Named to the second team were: Ithaca’s Mia Little, Binghamton’s Sugar Williams, and Mariah Lake, Horseheads’ Megan Wolf, U-E’s Allison Dipietro, and Ally Stank, Johnson City’s Emma Phelan, Chenango Valley’s Madeline Trinket and Madelyn Hayes, Owego’s Madison McEvoy, Notre Dame’s Shannon Maloney, Greene’s Payton Yahner, Union Springs’ Danielle Waldron, Moravia’s Chloe Hanson, Southern Cayuga’s Charlie Bennett, and Charlotte Valley’s Coleen Lusk.

The BCANY All-Star game will be played Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. at Elmira College. The boys game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
