NTL SOFTBALL: WYALUSING STRIKES EARLY IN SEASON-OPENING, 20-4, WIN OVER SAYRE (17 PHOTOS) (2023-03-24)

SAYRE — Wyalusing took command in the top of the first inning, and blew the game wide open in the second en route to a, 20-4, three-inning season-opening win over Sayre here Friday afternoon at Riverfront Park.

The Lady Rams scored five runs in their first trip to the plate, with Allie Liddick’s two-RBI double the big hit in the rally.

Wyalusing put the game out of reach with 10 runs in the second inning. Liddick contributed a three-RBI double, and Jenelle Johns added a two-run single in the rally.

Sayre got on the board in the home half of the second on a two-out single by sophomore Abbie McGaughey, and an RBI double by freshman Rylee Lantz.

Wyalusing tacked on five runs in the top of the third, and Sayre finished off the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the frame, with senior Makenna Garrison and freshman Olivia Thompson each belting triples in the rally.

Thompson tripled, scored one run, and drove in one run, and Garrison triple and scored a run to pace Sayre at the plate, while Lantz doubled and drove in one run, McGaughey singled and scored one run, and sophomore Raegan Parrish scored a run.

Parrish, junior Mercedez Haggerty, and Thompson shared the pitching duties for the Lady Redskins.

Liddick had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and scored three runs, while Johns doubled and singled, scored three runs, and drove in five runs, and Sydney Friedlander rapped out two singles, scored four runs, and had two RBI.

Sayre returns to action Tuesday at Troy.
