COLLEGE BASEBALL: SAYRE GRAD HANAFIN RIDING FIVE-GAME HIT STREAK AT PENN COLLEGE (2023-03-25)

WILLIAMSPORT — Sayre grad Quinn Hanafin, a sophomore on the Penn College baseball team, has hit safely in five straight games, including his second three-hit game of the season.

In the last five games, Hanafin has seven hits in 18 at-bats, with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored, and seven RBI.

On March 18, Hanafin was 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored in Penn College’s 18-6 win at Penn State-Abington.

On Tuesday, Hanafin was 1-for-2 with a double and two base on balls in a 12-4 loss to Lycoming in the first game of a twinbill. In the night cap, he rapped a three-RBI double in four at-bats in a 7-3 win.

On Friday, in a sweep of Gallaudet, Hanafin tripled, scored two runs, drove in one run, and stole his first base of the season in a 4-2 win in the opener, and singled and drove in one run in a 9-7 victory in the nightcap.

Hanafin has started all 17 of Penn College’s games this season. He is hitting .333 (19 hits in 57 ABs) with nine doubles, one triple, eight runs scored, and 13 RBI. He’s also drawn nine walks, has been hit by pitches four times, and has a .457 on-base percentage.

Penn College, now 9-8, returns to action Sunday in a doubleheader at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.
