Valley Sports Report
TIOGA CENTER — Tioga’s bats were alive again Monday, scoring 27 runs for the second consecutive game — this time in a 27-10 win over Watkins Glen in IAC softball action.

The Lady Tigers, now 5-1, have scored 20 or more runs four times this season, including their 27-9 win over Newfield Friday.

Tioga opened the game up early with nine runs in the home half of the first inning. Junior Megan Vance belted an RBI triple to right field to scored lead-off hitter freshman RaeAnne Feeko, who had walked, and scored moments later on an RBI double by sophomore Emily Luther, who also capped the rally with a three-run double.

In between, senior Felicia Lantz grounded a two-run single up the middle, and Feeko and Vance drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks to make it 6-0.

Watkins Glen got on the board in the top of the second with a two-out double RBI double by A. Barber, who was gunned trying to stretch it into a triple by a nice relay from right fielder junior Megan Shumway to shortstop Feeko to third baseman Mckenzie Williams.

The Lady Tigers quickly made it 10-1 in the home half of the inning when Williams was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on an RBI single Lantz. They tacked on a run later in the inning on a fielder’s choice grounder off the bat of Feeko to make it 11-1.

The Lady Tigers stretched their lead to 20-1 after three innings with eight runs in the bottom of the third. The rally featured an RBI double by junior Mykenzie Thetga, RBI singles by Williams. junior Emily Bidwell, and Feeko, and a pair of Lady Seneca errors that plated the final three runs.

Watkins Glen had five consecutive hits in the top of the fourth, and scored six runs to close the gap to 20-7, but Tioga answered with seven runs in the home half of the inning.

Feeko and Vance stroked RBI singles to make it 22-7, and an outfield error scored two more runs to push the lead to 24-7.

After an RBI single by Thetga, Williams capped Tioga’s scoring on the day with a two-RBI double.

Vance had three hits, including a triple, scored five runs, and had three RBI, while Lantz had three hits, including a double, one run scored, and three RBI, and Bidwell singled three times, and scored four runs to pace Tioga’s 17-hit attack.

Feeko singled twice, scored four runs, and drove in four runs in the win, while Luther belted a pair of doubles and had four RBI, Williams doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in three runs, Thetga doubled and singled, and knocked in two runs.

Jade Keaty scored four runs for the Lady Tigers, while Vanessa Tunicliff crossed the plate three times, and Kathleen Toomey and Elizabeth Shaffer each scored one run.

Luther earned the win for the Tigers, allowing seven earned runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking seven in five innings of work.

Tioga returns to action Tuesday at Newfield.
