NEW YORK STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY'S WESTBROOK EARNS FOURTH-TEAM CLASS B ALL-STATE HONORS (April 24, 2023)
Valley Sports Report WAVERLY - Waverly senior Kennedy Westbrook was recently named fourth-team all-state in Class B by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
"I think it’s a testament to the hard-working individual she is and has been as a student at Waverly High School," said Waverly girls basketball coach Bob Kelly.
"In addition to be named fourth-team all-state in basketball, she was also awarded academic all-state," he noted.
"She is dedicated on the court and the classroom," added Kelly. "I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to coach her and honored to have known her as a person."
On the offensive end of the floor, Westbrook scored in transition, taking the ball to the bucket, and from 3-point range. She led the team with 19.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. She also knocked down 42 3-pointers, and became a member of the 1,000-point club.
Defensively, Westbrook led the Lady Wolverines with 5 steals, and 3.4 deflections per game.
She was the Valley Sports Report "Player of the Year," and The Sports Reports’ "Offensive Player of the Year."
