ATHENS LITTLE LEAGUE: JAY CARPET ONE RALLIES TO TOP GANNON ASSOCIATES (April 28, 2023)

ATHENS - Jay Carpet One overcame an early deficit, using a seven-run fifth-inning rally to complete a 12-6 come-from-behind win over Gannon Associates here Wednesday evening in Majors Division baseball action at Athens Little League.

Gannon’s scored six runs in the top of the first inning, but Jays chipped away at the lead, and trailed 6-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jacob Saxon led Jay’s at the plate with two singles, while Griffin Smith and Evan Westerfeld each had one single.

Saxon pitched four innings for Jay’s, and fanned 12. Smith earned the win, striking out three in two innings.

Shea Davidson doubled, while Graham Steinfelt and Hunter Frisbie each singled to account for Gannon’s hits.

Davidson started for Gannon’s, striking out seven and walking four. Eli Glielmi relieved and struck out three in two innings.
