SAYRE — A pair of pitchers combined on a two-hitter to lead Athens’ Jay Carpet One to an 11-1 win over Sayre’s Vulcraft here Saturday afternoon in Athens-Sayre Majors Division Little League action.

Evan Westerfield gave up one run on one hit, while striking out nine and walking three to earn the win. Griffin Smith pitched two innings of one-hit scoreless relief, with four strikeouts and two walks to close out the game.

Jacob Saxon doubled and singled, scored two runs, and had two RBI to pace Jay’s at the plate, while Smith singled twice and drove in three runs, Kolbe Coe singled twice, and Carter Wells scored three runs.

James Lincoln singled and scored one run, and Zach Hall doubled to account for Vulcraft’s two hits.

Trent Lynch stuck out two in two innings on the mound for Vulcraft, while Gave Wheeler fanned three in 2 1/3 innings, Eli Russ stuck out three in 1 2/3 innings, and Blake Chandler pitched an inning.

Jay’s returns to action Tuesday at home against Towanda.
