SALISBURY, Md. — Waverly 4th-grader Amelia Wright pulled off an impressive feat over the weekend,  earning “All-American” status in both the girls and boys divisions here at the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA) Eastern National Championships.

Wright placed second in the boys division, and third in the girls division in the Midget 105-pound weight class, after qualifying as the Northern Regional champion for both divisions.

In the boys bracket, Wright received a bye into the quarterfinals, where she pinned Cameron Corradetti of State College, Pa. in the second period.

In the semifinals, Wright pulled out a hard-fought, 4-3, decision over Liam Dietrich of Green Castle, Pa.

In the championship match, Wright fell short to Tyrone Evans lll of Vineland, N.J. in a 6-0 decision.

The girls division was wrestled in a round-robin bracket format.

After receiving a Round 1 bye, Wright beat Dakota Slody of Springville, Pa. in a 10-0 major decision.

In the third round, Wright dropped a 6-0 decision to Willow Reynolds of Montgomery, but bounced back with a 13-second pin of Gazlynn Dale of Oakland, Md. in the fourth round.

In her final match, Wright lost an 8-0 decision to Peyton Segata of Longhorne, Pa.
