THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON IS IN FULL SWING (2023-05-21)

THE VALLEY — It’s postseason time, which means win or go home.

There are 13 events on this week’s docket, including six Tuesday and four on Monday. There could be more postseason games added to the schedule if Valley teams win.

The following are all of the varsity events this week:

MONDAY (4)
•  Waverly opens the Section IV, Class B baseball playoffs in a quarter-final match-up at home against Lansing.

•  Tioga opens the Section IV, Class C baseball playoffs on the road against Union Springs in a quarter-final match-up.

•  The Waverly boys are at Maple Hills Golf Course for the Section IV, Class C Championships, while Tioga is at the Delhi College Course for the Class D Championships.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Athens opens the District 4, Class 4A baseball playoffs against Mifflinburg in a semi-final match-up at Mansfield University.

•  Waverly is in action at top-seeded Chenango Valley in the semifinals of the Section IV, Class B softball playoffs.

•  TIoga travels to Greene for a quarter-final match-up in the Section IV, Class C playoffs.
•  Waverly, in its final IAC event, and Tioga are in action at the IAC Boys Golf Championships at Soaring Eagles Golf Course.

•  The Waverly girls golf team has a final tune-up for the Section IV tournament at Willowcreek Golf Course.

WEDNESDAY (1)
•  Waverly is in action at the Section IV, Class C Track & Field Championships at Newark Valley.

THURSDAY (1)
•  The Waverly girls are in action at the Section IV Championships at Soaring Eagle Golf Course.

FRIDAY (0)
There are currently no events on Friday’s schedule.

SATURDAY (1)
•  Athens sophomore Sara Bronson will compete in the 3,200-meter run at the PIAA, Class AA Track & Field Championships.
