IAC SOFTBALL: TIOGA'S LUTHER NAMED DIVISIONAL MVP; FIVE TEAMMATES EARN ALL-STAR HONORS (2023-05-25)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Sophomore Erin Luther has been named the IAC South Small School Most Valuable Player, while three of her Tioga teammates joined her as first-team divisional all-stars, and two received second-team nods in recent voting by the division’s coaches.

Freshman RaeAnne Feeko, sophomore Makenzie Williams, and senior Felicia Lantz were first-team selections, and senior Mykenzie Thetga and junior Megan Vance earned second-team honors.

Luther hit .352 (19 hits in 54 ABs), drew 12 walks for a .470 on-base percentage, and had a 1.192 OPS. She had eight doubles, four home runs, 25 RBI, and 19 runs scored

In the circle, Luther was 5-7 with 76 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched.

FIRST TEAM
RaeAnne Feeko, freshman, Tioga:
A good defensive shortstop, Feeko hit .500 (25 hits in 50 ABs), drew 12 base on balls for a .603 on-base percentage, and had a 1.223 OPS. She had four doubles, two triples, 17 RBI, and 28 runs scored.

In the circle, Feeko was 2-0 with 28 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings.

Makenzie Williams, sophomore, Tioga: A good defensive third baseman, Williams played the majority of the season at catcher after an injury to senior Mykenzie Thetga.

Williams hit .421 (24 hits in 57 ABs) with 11 doubles, 28 RBI, and 16 runs scored.

Defensively, she had just one error in 93 defensive chances for a .989 fielding percentage.

Felicia Lantz, senior, Tioga: Lantz showed her versatility by shifting positions due to injuries during the season.

Lantz hit .377 (20 hits in 53 ABs), worked seven walks for a .484 on-base percentage, and had an OPS of .956. She had five doubles, 20 RBI, and 15 runs scored.

Also named to the first team were: Eighth-grader Lauren Signor, junior Brenna Pierce, and freshman Brianna Hatch — Schuyler; and senior Emily Dunn and senior Ashlee Pealo — Newfield.

SECOND TEAM
Mykenzie Thetga, senior, Tioga:
A dominant hitter, Thetga’s season was cut short by an injury. She hit .727 with 16 hits in 22 at-bats in just six games. She had a slugging percentage of 1.182, and an OPS of 1.951.

Thetga had four doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI, and six runs scored.

Megan Vance, junior, Tioga:
A leader on the field, Vance hit .339 (20 hits in 59 ABs), and drew nine walks for a .435 on-base percentage. She had two doubles, one triple, 16 RBI, and 27 runs scored.

Also named to the second team were: Eighth-grader Brooklyn Thompson, and freshman Olivia King — Schuyler; and junior Mina Thomas — Newfield.
