ATHENS — Jay’s Carpet One and Williams Ford split a pair of decisions in recent play in the Athens Little League Baseball Majors Division.

Williams Ford 6, Jay’s Carpet One 5
On Saturday, Ryan Hicks had four hits to power Williams Ford to a 6-5 win over Jay’s Carpet One.

Hicks hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5, then stroked an RBI single in the seventh inning to win the game.

Nico Russell had three hits, including a double, for Williams Ford, while Tyler Pelchy and eli Wayman each had one hit.

Hick also pitched for Williams Ford, and struck out 12.

Evan Westerfield tripled and singled, and Jacob Saxon singled twice to pace Jay’s at the plate, while Cartyr Wells, East Paul, Griffin Smith,, and Nick Dolan each had one hit.

Saxon (seven strikeouts) and Evan Paul (six strikeouts) shared the pitching duties for Jay’s.

Jay’s Carpet One 6, Williams Ford 2

On Saturday, Jacob Saxon pitched five strong innings to help Jay’s to a 6-2 win over Wiliams Ford.

Saxon fanned 10 in his five innings, and Evan Westerfield closed out the game with two strikeouts in one inning of relief.

Saxon also had two hits to pace the offense, while Cartyr Wells and Griffin Smith each had a single and one RBI, and Zach Renninger belted a double. East Paul and Parker Bradley added singles in the win, and Westerfield had one RBI.

Nico Russell, Gavin Ross, Thomas Dickerson, and Cam Johnson each had one hit to account for Williams Ford’s offense.

Russell struck out eight in four innings on the mound for Williams Ford, and Tyler Pelchy struck out three in two innings of relief.
