IAC BOYS SOCCER: POWERHOUSE TRUMANSBURG HANDS TIOGA FIRST LOSS OF SEASON (2023-09-20)

Valley Sports Report
TRUMANSBURG — Powerhouse Trumansburg set the tone with a pair of early goals, and cruised to a 5-0 win over Tioga here Wednesday night in a battle of unbeaten IAC boys soccer teams.

The Blue Raiders scored in the second minute of the game, and again five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead, which it carried into the halftime intermission.

"It was another stand out game for Ethan Landmesser, he had a great game Monday, too," said Tioga coach Adam Layman. "A vast majority of the shots between the two games did not go uncontested due to Landmesser's efforts.

"Tonight was a well-played game," noted Layman. "Trumansburg has a fantastic program and the boys didn't let that discourage them. The boys worked well together and had solid passing.

"It’s unfortunate to be handed our first loss, but we will continue to work hard and move forward," he added.

Trumansburg scored two goals in the first four minutes to take a 4-0 lead, and added a goal with 16 minutes remaining to finish off its scoring.

Tioga avoided the shutout on a goal by senior Tyler Roe with 6 minutes remaining in the contest.

Trumansburg had a 24-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Jake Brown registered 19 saves in net for the Tigers.

Tioga, now 6-1-2, returns to action Thursday at Notre Dame.
