Valley Sports Report
WATKINS GLEN — It was a record-breaking weekend for the Waverly girls swim team.

Sophomore Mira Kittle established a new school record in the backstroke, and was part of two new relay records, and sophomore Olivia Cheresnowsky made a very successful debut for Waverly at the Watkins Glen Swimming & Diving Invitational here Friday and Saturday.

Kittle broke her own school record in winning the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.71 seconds. She also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Kittle and Cheresnowsky, a transfer from Athens, teamed with 7th-grader Megan Atanasoff, and 8th-grader Lauryn Welles to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a school-record time of 1:41.97, which narrowly missed the state standard time.
