IAC BOYS SOCCER: NOVAK POWERS SVEC IN 7-0 WIN OVER TIOGA (24 PHOTOS) (2023-09-25)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Steven Novak scored three goals and doled out three assists to lead SVEC to a 7-0 win over Tioga in IAC boys soccer action on a rainy Monday afternoon here at Haggerty Field.
The boys did a great job moving the ball, and winning the 50-50 balls in the middle of the field," said SVEC coach Jason Banks.
"Our solid defense and work in the midfield helped create a number of good attacking chances that we were able to finish," added Banks.
The Tigers fall to 5-3-2 on the season, and have lost three in a row — all to elite programs in the IAC, Trumansburg, Notre Dame, and SVEC. They are 2-0-1 in divisional play.
"The boys played a good game, and need to keep their heads up," said Tioga coach Adam Layman.
"The last few games have been hard losses on the boys," he added. "We are a growing program, and have great potential with great athletes, but still have teams that will outplay us."
