Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY - Waverly won the first two sets easily, then rallied from a big deficit to complete a sweep of Sayre here Monday night non-league volleyball action.
The Lady Wolverines, now 4-3, won by scores of 25-15, 25-10, and 25-23.
Waverly jumped ahead early in the first set on its way to the win. In the second set, senior Peyton Shaw gave the Lady Wolverines a 14-0 lead with a 14-point service run to start the set.
The Lady Redskins jumped out to an early lead in the third set, and built a 20-12 lead, only to see Waverly rally for the win.
Shaw led Waverly with 14 points, including five aces, five kills, two setter assists, and two digs, while senior Lily Smith had seven points, including five aces, two kills, and 13 assists, and junior Maddy Olmsted had six points (four aces), two kills, four setter assists, and six digs
Senior Ashlen Croft had five points, four kills, and three digs in the win, while junior Lillie Kirk had four points, three kills, and two digs, junior Natalie Lauper had four points (three aces), and junior Lauryn DeLill added three points, and three kills.
Alayna Miller had two points and two kills for the Lady Wolverines, and junior Meghan Apgar recorded three digs.
Junior Raegan Parrish led Sayre with eight points, including three aces, four kills, and three digs, while senior Faith Swackhammer had six points, including three aces, and sophomore Rylee Lantz had six points, and 12 setter assists.
Junior Abbie McGaughey had six points, three kills, one block, and two digs for the Lady Redskins, while senior Layla Bennett added two points, and six digs, and junior Mazlin VanDuzer registered three kills, and six digs.
Waverly returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Owego, while Sayre (0-8) hosts Wellsboro.
