NTL GOLF: ATHENS FINISHES OFF SECOND STRAIGHT UNBEATEN SEASON (2023-09-26)

CHEMUNG - Athens, led by NTL "Player of the Year" senior Evan Cooper, completed its second unbeaten season in a row here Monday afternoon in NTL golf action at Tomasso’s Golf Course.

The Wildcats, now the three-time reigning league champs, shot a four-player aggregate score of 328, while runner-up Wyalusing carded a 345, Towanda was third with a 360, and Cowanesque Valley was fourth at 365. Wellsboro placed fifth at 392, with NP-Mansfield sixth at 393, and Sayre was seventh at 591.

Cowanesque Valley’s Jordan Vargeson earned low-medal honors with a round 74, while Cooper finished second with a 79, freshman Ethan Hicks was fourth with an 80, and junior Dylan Saxon was fifth with an 82.

Junior Brady Darrow and senior Nicholas Jacob tied for 10th with rounds of 87, and senior Conner Mosher tied for 14th with a career-best 91.

Ryne Osmond led Sayre with a 107, and Brayden Schrader added a 124.

Athens and Sayre return to action Wednesday at the NTL Team Championships at White Deer in Montgomery.

NOTES: Hicks and Saxon were named first-team all-stars, while Darrow and Jacob earned second-team all-star honors.
