SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: MARATHON BLANKS TIOGA, 5-0 (2023-09-26)

MARATHON - Savanna Warfield netted a hat trick to lead Marathon to a 5-0 win over Tioga here Monday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.

The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Lady Tigers, who fall to 2-7 on the season.

Warfield scored with 6:37 remaining in the first quarter, and again with 4:21 left to give the Lady Olympians a 2-0 lead.

Autumn Young added a goal late in the second quarter to put Marathon ahead 3-0, a lead it carried into the halftime intermission.

Warfield finished off her hat trick in the opening moments of the second half, and Abigail Edsall closed out the scoring with a goal early in the fourth quarter.

Marathon had a 27-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.

Senior Chloe Gillette had 22 saves in the cage for the Lady Tigers.

Tioga returns to action Thursday night at Maine-Endwell.
