IAC GIRLS SOCCER: NOTRE DAME ROLLS OVER TIOGA (21 PHOTOS) (2023-09-26)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — McKenna Keough scored five goals to lead Notre Dame to a 10-1 win over Tioga here Tuesday afternoon in IAC gils soccer action at Haggerty Field.
"There was no doubt about the better team tonight, talk about efficiency," said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. "Notre Dame scored on almost 50 per of it’s shots; that's almost unheard of.
"On this Senior Night, we shuffled the line-up significantly, and we were a little out of sorts and discombobulated," noted Walsh. "Even so, typically, we play inspired ball on our senior night no matter the opponent; this year it was not the case.
"We are going to have to regroup and play the ball we are capable of playing these last two weeks of the regular season to have a shot at sectional play.
"Hats off to our six seniors: Elyse Haney, Emma Jaye, Jenna Miner, Kaylee Noyes, Sadie Parker, Kaitlyn Vasey Hunt," added Walsh.
Sophomore Ava Smolinksy’s first goal of the season, was Tioga’s lone goal of the day.
Notre Dame had a 19-16 edge in shots-on-goal, and a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman Marcy Moniz had six saves in net for the Lady Tigers, and junior Taliah Speer added three.
Tioga, now 6-4, returns to action Friday at Newfield at 4:30 p.m.
