IAC VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA BATTLES TO SWEEP OF EDISON (2023-09-27)

ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Tioga pulled out a hard-fought sweep of Thomas A. Edison here Wednesday night in IAC Large School volleyball action.

The Lady Tigers, now 4-2, won by scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-15.

Junior Kali Bailey led Tioga with 11 service points, six kills, and nine digs, while sophomore Rae Ann Feeko had eight points, 15 setter assists, and nine digs, and senior Layni Whitmore had six points, eight kills, and three digs.

Senior Lily Mesler had four points, eight assists, and seven digs in the win, while senior Megan Vance had four points, seven kills, and two digs, and freshman Audi Zorn had three points, four kills, and two blocks.

Senior Joslyn Maciak had registered five kills, four assists, and four digs for the Lady Tigers, while sophomore Lydiah Decker added two kills, and five digs, and sophomore Kendra Noe recorded four digs.

Tioga returns to action Friday when it hosts Whitney Point.

JV: Tioga improved to 6-0 with a three-set win over Edison. Tioga opened with a 25-23 win in the first set, but Edison answered with a 26-24 victory. Tioga pulled out a 25-22 win in the decisive third set.

Lilly Mezzatesta led Tioga with 13 points, including seven aces, six kills, and thee digs, while Mary Divers had seven points (two aces), two kills, six assists, and six digs, and Sadie Marshall had six points (four aces), three kills, and nine digs.

Jade Keaty had six points (two aces), and six digs in the win, while Alyson Chamberlain added four points — all aces, three kills, eight assists, and four digs, and Lindsey Jeffreys chipped in with two points and one block.
