BOYS SOCCER: WAVERLY FALLS TO SVEC, 4-1, IN FINAL HOME GAME (24 PHOTOS) (2023-10-17)
Valley Sports Report WAVERLY — Waverly got on the board first, but SVEC scored the next four goal en route to a 4-1 win here Tuesday evening in non-league boys soccer action at Memorial Stadium.
Sophomore Peyton Robinson scored on a penalty kick in the third minute to give the Wolverines a quick 1-0 lead.
Noah Banks tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 19th minute, and Steven Novak put the Eagles ahead 2-1 with a goal in the final minute of the first half.
Banks made it 3-1 with a penalty kick just three minutes after the intermission.
Novak added an insurance goal with a hard shot inside the far post with 15 minutes remaining in the contest.
Waverly had a 9-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Waverly, now 1-14, wraps up the regular season Thursday against SVEC at Candor High School.
