Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — The 2023 fall season is winding to a close, and Thursday’s schedule will end the cross-country season for the vast majority of runners in Section IV, while two more Class C volleyball teams will also see their seasons come to a conclusion.
CROSS COUNTRY
Section IV Championships, 11 a.m.: Waverly will be running in the Class C Championships, while Tioga will be combating in Class D.
The Wolverines, if healthy, could send junior Harper Minaker, and / or senior Elizabeth Vaughn to the state meet.
Sophomore Talon Wood is Tioga’s top runner, but would need a career day to qualify.

The two teams with the best records tonight during round-robin pool play will square off Saturday at Corning-Painted Post High School for the Class C Championship.
Top-seeded Trumansburg swept Tioga twice in a four-day span late in the season, winning by scores of 25-8, 25-18, and 25-15 at home.
Tioga, now in the IAC Large School Division, did not face IAC Small School champ S-VE in a regular-season match, but did sweep the Panthers by scores of 25-22 and 25-15 during pool play at the Tioga Tournament.
Tioga did not face Walton during the regular season.
