VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S TOMASSO, TIOGA'S BELLIS, ATHENS' WHEELER NAMED BISHIP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2023-12-06)

THE VALLEY — Waverly senior Joey Tomasso, and Tioga senior Caden Bellis each led their football teams to state titles, and Athens junior Addy Wheeler had a big night to lead the Wildcats to a season-opening win. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Dec. 2.

WAVERLY’S TOMASSO, TIOGA’S BELLIS SHARE BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’ HONORS
Tomasso threw for four TDs, and ran for two more in leading Waverly to the New York State Class C football championship.

Tomasso completed 18 of 26 passes for 333 yards, and four TDs, and ran 13 times for 58 yards, and two TDs in a 46-26 win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Bellis threw for three TDs, and ran for another in leading Tioga to its third consecutive Class D state title, and the program’s 41st straight win.

Bellis completed 3 of 4 passes for 98 yards, and three TDs, and ran the ball six times for 92 yards, and one TD in a 63-14 win over Stillwater.

ATHENS’ ADDY WHEELR NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Wheeler stuffed the stat sheet in her first game of the season, leading Athens to a 61-22 win over Tioga.

Wheeler had 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals in the win.
