Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY - Freshman Ryleigh Judson had a career night to lead Waverly to a 67-36 win over Seton Catholic here Saturday afternoon in STAC Central Division girls basketball action.
Judson poured in a career-high 31 points, including seven 3-pointers, as Waverly improved to 2-0 on the season.
Judson pumped in a trio of 3-pointers and scored in transition to help Waverly to a 14-2 lead. After a timeout, the Saints closed the gap to 14-8, fording Waverly to use a timeout.
The Wolverines came out of the timeout, and scored 21 straight points in a run that bridged the first two quarters and put them up 35-8.
Judson hit four 3-pointers and was six-for-six from the free-throw line for 18 points in the first quarter. She capped the first-quarter barrage with a half-court shot at the buzzer.
Judson and senior Peyton Shaw each scored five points in the second quarter, and seniors Paige Robinson and Ashlen Croft each added four points as Waverly took a 39-15 lead into the halftime locker room.
Robinson scored six points in third quarter, while Judson scored five, and freshman Emma Richards-Randall scored four points as Waverly used a 15-13 advantage in the stanza to take a 54-28 lead into the final eight minutes.
Shaw scored four points, and freshman Makenzie Olmsted and Judson each added 3-pointers in a 15-8 fourth-quarter spurt for the Wolverines.
Robinson scored 12 points in the win, while Shaw scored 10, Croft added six, and Richards-Randall chipped in with four.
Waverly returns to action Thursday at Susquehanna Valley.
