COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD WORTHING HAS WON THREE OF LAST FOUR IN DUALS AT CLARION (2023-12-18)

CLARION, Pa, — Tioga grad John Worthing, a junior on the Division I Clarion University wrestling team, has won three of his last four bouts to help the Golden Eagles to wins in two of their last four duals.

On Saturday, Worthing topped D.J. Shannon in a 12-8 decision to pull Clarion within a point, at 14-13, but Michigan State won the final three bouts for a 25-13 win.

Worthing won two of three bouts to help Clarion to a 2-1 mark at the Dragon Duals, hosted by Drexel.

Worthing pinned West Liberty’s Reagan Pearson in 3:14 in Clarion’s 30-13 win over West Liberty.

Worthing dropped an 8-3 decision to Tyler Brennan in Clarion’s 37-6 loss to Little Rock.

Worthing forged an 18-1 technical fall win over Josiah Queen in 3:35 in Clarion’s 23-17 win over Drexel. Worthing’s win gave Clarion the lead for good.

Worthing is 8-4 on the season, is 69-36 for his career.

Clarion hosts Cleveland State Thursday.
