STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY IMPROVES TO 3-0 WITH WIN OVER CHENANGO VALLEY (20 PHOTOS) (2023-12-20)

WAVERLY - Waverly took the lead early, then put the game away with a third-quarter blitz on the way to a 63-33 win over Chenango Valley here Tuesday evening in STAC Central Division junior varsity boys basketball action.

Bryce LaForest scored seven points in the first quarter, and Porter Daddona added four as the Wolverines opened the game with a 16-9 run in the first eight minutes.

Ben Shaw and Carson Rockwell scored five points apiece in the second quarter, and LaForest added four points to help Waverly to a 16-12 advantage in the stanza to up the lead to 32-21 at the half.

Carter Davies and LaForest scored five points apiece in the third quarter, while Peyton Robinson added four points, and Shaw knocked down a 3-pointer to fuel a 20-6 blitz that extended the lead to 52-27 heading into the final eight minutes.

Rylan Larson scored four points, and Jack Pipher canned a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as Waverly added to its lead with an 11-6 spurt in the final eight minutes.

LaForest led Waverly with 16 points and three steals, while Shaw had 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals, and Daddona had eight points, seven rebounds, and one blocked shot.

Rockwell had seven points and three assists in the win, while Davies scored seven points, Robinson had four points and three assists, and Larson and Pipher added four points apiece.

Paske, Harris, and Murat led CV with eight points apiece.

Waverly, now 3-0, hosts Binghamton Friday afternoon.
