COLLEGE FOOTBALL: WAVERLY'S TOMASSO SIGNS TO PLAY AT WILLIAM & MARY (2024-12-20)

WAVERLY — Waverly’s all-state senior QB Joey Tomasso, who led the Wolverines to their first-ever state title this season, signed a National Letter-of-Intent Wednesday morning to play his college football at William & Mary.

Tomasso announced his choice this morning via X (formerly Twitter).

"I am honored to say that I have signed this morning to continue my education and athletic career at The College of William and Mary," said Tomasso.

Tomasso had a record-breaking career at Waverly, capped by an incredible senior year in which completed 74.1 percent (206 of 278) of his passes for 3,160 yards, and 43 TDs against just three interceptions.

Tomasso, who was limited by a knee injury in his last three games, rushed for a team-high 628 yards and 12 TDs on 120 carries.

For his career, Tomasso passed for 9,183 yards, and 104 TDs. He also for 2,549 yards and 49 TDs in his last three varsity seasons. He will graduate third all-time in New York State in career passing yards, and passing TDs, as well as third all-time in single-season passing yards, and passing TDs.

In 2023, William & Mary, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly 1-AA) was as high as No. 4 in the polls this season, but finished the season at 6-5.

The Tribe signed 13 players Wednesday morning, with Tomasso the only quarterback in the mix.
