IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: BALANCED SCORING CARRIES TIOGA TO 79-45 WIN OVER S-VE (24 PHOTOS) (2024-01-09)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER - Tioga had three players score 20 or more points in a 79-45 win over Spencer-VanEtten here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division boys basketball action.
Senior Evan Sicker led the Tigers with 25 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while senior Valentino Rossi scored 22 points, and grabbed six rebounds, and senior Gavin Fisher added 20 points, including four 3-pointers, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Juniors Konnor Garrity-Vail and Shea Bailey each had five points, including 3-pointers.
The Tigers jumped ahead early, but the Panthers hung with them through three quarters.
Fisher knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and scored 10 points in the first quarter, while Sickler and Rossi scored nine points apiece to fuel a 28-19 run in the opening eight minutes.
Rossi scored six points, and Sickler added four in the second quarter as Tioga used a 16-13 advantage to extend its lead to 44-32 lead at the halftime intermission.
Rossi scored seven more points in the third quarter as the Tigers used an 11-8 spurt total a 55-40 lead into the final eight minutes.
Tioga caught fire in the fourth quarter, draining six of its nine 3-pointers in the game. Sickler scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the final stanza, and Fisher had six points on a pair of treys, while Garrity-Vail, who had five points in the frame, and Bailey each connected on one 3-pointer.
LoPresti led S-VE with 17 points.
Tioga, now 7-3, returns to action Friday when it hosts Marathon.
